
Nylon (polyamide, abbreviated as PA) is a general term for a class of thermoplastic resins with repeating amide groups (-CONH2) on the main molecular chain, and there are many material grades. At present, the products of nylon recycling projects are mainly recycled nylon materials, involving grades such as PA6, PA66, PA11, and PA12.

While nylon (polyamide) boasts excellent inherent properties, its inherent limitations restrict its application in a wider range of fields. Therefore, "modification" is a crucial aspect of nylon material applications. Simply put, the fundamental reason for the need to modify nylon is to compensate for its inherent defects or endow it with new special functions by artificially adding other substances or using chemical methods to meet the stringent performance requirements of specific products.
The core purpose of modifying recycled nylon is similar to that of virgin nylon, but the motivation is more urgent and complex. It can be summarized as: "filling gaps and turning waste into treasure." Because recycled materials have already undergone thermal and mechanical shear degradation during the recycling process, their performance is inherently deficient, limiting their direct application range. Modification can elevate them to a level that meets the requirements of specific applications.
